She began her medical studies in 1929 and became a licensed doctor in 1939. From January to May 1939 Emma worked as a Med. Praktikant in the Stadt Krankenhaus Bielefeld Med. Abteilung. She then worked in the Stadt Krankenhaus in Worms in the surgical department until September of 1939. She was promoted to the role of Assistant Ärztin in March 1940 in the Medical Clinic of the Stadt Krankenhaus in Heilbronn. From there, she worked in the surgical clinic in Heilbronn from March 1942 until August 1942. In 1942 she married Oskar Bader who was a doctor in Strasbourg.
